Top Socially Responsible KiwiSaver funds continue to outperform

Booster SRI KiwiSaver Fund Performance

Challenging market conditions since March 2020 have seen the “cream” rise to the top among KiwiSaver providers and funds. Among 30 or so providers, Booster’s Socially Responsible KiwiSaver Funds stand out for delivering consistently strong investment returns relative to other providers funds in the same fund types.

The just released March 2022 Morningstar KiwiSaver performance report confirms that top Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) funds can deliver leading investment returns relative to their peers:

• Booster’s Socially Responsible High Growth fund ranks 1st for average investment returns after fees over 3 and 5 years in the Aggressive (High Growth) fund category.

• Booster’s Socially Responsible Balanced fund ranks 3rd for average investment returns after fees over 3 and 5 years in the Balanced fund category.

The SRI performance gap

Booster’s investment experience over more than 24 years is likely to be a strong factor behind this success. They were also the first KiwiSaver provider to offer certified SRI fund options.

However, perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Morningstar data is how Booster’s SRI funds have consistently outperformed Booster’s regular funds in the same categories:

• Booster’s Socially Responsible High Growth fund has achieved 2.0% higher average investment returns per year over 3 years compared to Booster’s regular High Growth Fund.

• Booster’s Socially Responsible Balanced fund has achieved 0.9% higher average investment returns per year over 3 years compared to Booster’s regular Balanced Fund.

The same trend continues over five years suggesting the SRI performance gap is no fluke!
