Don't miss out on $521

Ensure you get the Government Contribution to your KiwiSaver

It’s nearly that time when the Government will contribute up to $521 to your KiwiSaver so long as you’ve contributed at least $1,042 over the past 12 months yourself. If you are short then there is still time to contribute and make up any shortfall. If you would like help with how to contribute then please get in touch.

The main groups that tend to miss out on the Government KiwiSaver contribution are the self-employed and lower income earners. If you have friends or family in these groups then please put them in touch with me to help and ensure that they don’t miss out.

Even if you have not saved the full amount, you still get 50 cents for every dollar you put in between 1 July and 30 June.

You will not get the full contribution if:

  • you turn 18 part-way through the year

  • you join part-way through the year

  • you no longer meet the eligibility criteria.

If you join, turn 18 or reach the age of eligibility to stop contributing part-way through the year, the government contribution is based on how many days in the year you've been a member.

More details on the Government Contribution to KiwiSaver can be found here on IRD’s website.
